Good day to you!
The official holiday season has started in Cologne. :D For the next 30 days a number of 8 main Christmas markets are open in the city on the Rhine. And of course some other smaller ones. Last night I visited four of them and took some pictures of the joy of the people.

I loved the atmosphere between the small wooden houses. And the fact that it wasn't to crowded added to the joy. The smell of mulled wine and cinnamon is everywhere, the candy colors make you turn your head and the craftsmen attract you to buy their creations.
Each market has it's own cup from which you can drink sweet drinks. In the most important places you can listen to live music. In Neumarkt for exampled sang a gospel group, in front of the cathedral a choir of children and in Alter Markt a brass band.
You can even find a Christmas market for gay and lesbian people in Rudolfplatz. It stands out through the strident coloring and the light show. If the cold gets the best out you, you can try the rink in Heumarkt or test your curling skills on the other side of the square.
That's how the Christmas season started in Nordrhein Westfallen. See you around!
