Hey Hey Hey!
On the 15th of April I received a most expected visit from Veronica, my sister. For 5 days we took advantage of the beautiful weather and the free time and we set on an adventure. This post will be quite long, so I suggest that you get yourself a bag of popcorn. ;)

Since June, last year, there is a direct route between Bucharest and Cologne serviced by Blue Air, that conveniently arrives at 9:15 a.m. in Germany. So I went to the airport to happily meet my sister. The first stop was at the canteen, where we had lunch, then I took her around the campus and around the neighborhood. Djieah!
Junkersdorf is beautiful and green, the forest of the city is nearby and is full with lakes, plants and animals. When the weather is nice, a lot of people go out for a walk, go cycling or go for a run.
In the evening we went to the banks of the Rhine to enjoy the sunset and a Radler beer. Yes, here you are allowed to drink on the streets. But in the trams you can have some problems so watch out.

After a first day, in which we got our engines started, we continued the tour through the center of the city. At the philharmonic orchestra take place in some days rehearsal concerts with free entrance. They are set around noon, when most of the people that work nearby have a free lunch hour, and they prefer to come to listen to 30 minutes of classical music. We arrived there a few minutes before the beginning and the place was almost full. We listened to an ouverture of Schumann and then to a trumpet concert with jazz influences. Tasty!
Because the weather allowed it, we went for a tour of the center. On a plate near the Cathedral we saw the signature of Nelu and then we rubbed for good luck the noses of the local mascots: Tünnes and Schäl. Afterwards we went to a shop that specializes in Carnival clothes and we tried out some outfits. A small shopping session marked the end of the afternoon. In the evening we tasted the nightlife by going to a club. Move it baby!

On the next day we packed our things and left for Hague, via Aachen. In the former royal city of Charlemagne we visited the Lindt chocolate factory and bought some supplies. In the afternoon we reached Hague and checked-in at a hostel for surfers by the sea. The view was superb, the sun was shining, the wind was like in a hurricane, the haircut does not resist. So let's head for the city center, maybe it's a bit warmer there.
In the Hague you can travel by tram for 3.5 Euro for one hour, or 6 Euro for the whole day. In the center we met a friend that has been living there for a few months and he took us a on a private tour. We tasted the local beer, then we saw the royal houses, the sky-scrapers and the Grotemarkt. After the sunset, with cold feet and tired, but glad that we visited the city, we returned to our accommodation place where we slept like a log.

On Saturday we said good-bye to the Hague by talking a walk on the pier and saying hello to the surfers in the water. Then we drove to Amsterdam. Halfway we stopped in a town known around the world: Keukenhof. Here you can find the biggest flower garden in the world, where the tulips are very sought after. In the XV century it used to be a vegetable garden for the nearby castle, that's why it's called so: the court of the kitchen. In 1840 it was transformed in a flower garden, where tourists can see the most impressive tulip hybrids. The place is open starting with the last week of March until May. The entrance ticket costs 16 Euro and you can add 6 more for the parking place.
We had a little problem: we were not the only people that thought that visiting the garden on a sunny Saturday is a good idea. So we had to wait in a traffic jam for about an hour. Felt like DN1. :p
But after that we got lost in the multitude of flowers and aromas. We climbed into a windmill, from where you can see the tulip fields and in a boat on one of the channels. We admired an orchid exposition and made fun of the hybrid's names. We even found the Victoria's Secret version. After 5 hours among flowers, we said good-bye in dutch and returned to the city on the Rhine.

On Sunday we slept a bit more, because well.. we needed it. Around noon we visited the Tierpark near Junkersdorf. It's a perfect place for children and adults, full with animals, from goats and hens till bison and deer. With 50 cents you can buy food for them and have the chance to get licked on the hand by Bambi. I heard it's good for rheumatism.
In the after-noon the time for packing came and in the evening we watched the victory of Romania in the Fed Cup. Congrats! :D On the next morning we went to the airport to say fare-well. I can't wait our next adventure sis!

And here we reach the end of our mini-adventure. I hope you enjoyed it and I can't wait for you to visit me too.
