Good day!
Last night I had the pleasure of going to the theater in Cologne. But not any kind of theater, Romanian theater. And the special guest was Florin Piersic Jr. with the one-man-show Freak Show. It was my first time at a show with Persic Jr. so my expectations were a bit mixed. But the result was outstanding.
The actor interprets 13 personas, each one for approximately 10 minutes, and the change happens on stage (costume change). The whole show is written and play by Piersic Jr., and the characters borrow traits from the Romanian society typologies. Therefore he becomes an university professor, film director, banker, a retired teleshopping addict, cardboard billionaire, a homeless man, a cleaning lady at the opera, a con man, a call-center operator, a worker, an autograph-collecting retard, an 108-year-old man and a stewardess.
I was impressed by the swiftness with which he changed roles, the completely different gestures, the mimicry and the voicing, but also the original ideas that he created. I would happily recommend this show. In Bucharest you can enjoy it at Godot Cafe-Teatru.

The Romanian Cultural Center in Cologne made this event possible and at the same time they celebrated 20 years of existence. Last year I also saw the play "Doi pe o banca" by Aleksandr Ghelman with Florin Zamfirescu and Tania Filip. This was another superb play. For January a new Romanian play is announced. I look forward to seeing it.
For those who want to taste a bit from the style of the show, there are some parts on Youtube.
